Pigeons & Birds
Pigeons and other roosting birds are a significant hygiene and structural problem for Qatar properties. Their droppings are acidic and damage building surfaces, block drains, and carry airborne diseases. Bird activity on rooftops, ledges, and AC units is a common concern for commercial and residential buildings alike.
SIGNS OF INFESTATION
- Bird droppings accumulating on ledges, rooftops, or AC equipment, nesting material twigs, straw,
- feathers in roof cavities or vents, persistent cooing or scratching from roof spaces,
- blocked gutters or drainage from nesting material, feathers and debris around building entry points
PREVENTION TIPS
- Install bird spikes on ledges, parapets, and favored roosting areas,
- use bird netting to close off roof voids and large open spaces,
- do not leave food waste or open bins accessible to birds, seal all roof vents, gaps, and entry points before birds establish nests,
- Act early once birds establish a roosting site, removal becomes far harder
