Moths
Moths in Qatar properties are typically clothes moths or pantry moths. Clothes moths damage natural fibers in stored clothing and carpets. Pantry moths infest dry food stores — cereals, flour, nuts, and spices. Both are difficult to detect early as larvae, not adult moths, cause most of the damage.
SIGNS OF INFESTATION
- Irregular holes in wool, silk, or cotton clothing in storage,
- Silken webbing or cocoons in fabric or food packaging,
- fine powder or clumping in dried food products,
- adult moths flying near wardrobes, pantries, or light sources at night, small,
- cream-colored larvae in affected clothing or food containers
PREVENTION TIPS
- Store natural fiber clothing in sealed bags or boxes when not in use,
- Use cedar balls or lavender sachets in wardrobes as a deterrent, and inspect all dry food products on arrival before storing.
- Store dry food in sealed, airtight glass or hard plastic containers,
- Regularly vacuum wardrobe floors, shelving, and corners.
