Book lice

Booklice are tiny, soft-bodied insects that thrive in humid indoor spaces. They don’t bite or spread disease but multiply quickly in damp conditions. Qatar’s poorly ventilated spaces make them a common hidden problem in homes and offices.

SIGNS OF INFESTATION

  • Tiny pale insects on books, shelves, or stored food packaging,
  • insects around damp walls, window frames, or kitchen cupboards,
  • musty smell in storage areas often accompanied by surface mold

PREVENTION TIPS

  • Control indoor humidity using a dehumidifier in damp rooms.
  • Ventilate storage areas, cupboards, and bookshelves regularly, store books and documents in sealed,
  • dry containers, fix any leaks, condensation, or damp walls immediately,
  • Keep kitchen cupboards clean and dry at all times.
