Ants
Ants enter properties in search of food and moisture. What appears to be a few ants is usually the surface of a colony thousand strong. Qatar’s warm climate keeps ant activity high year-round. Certain species such as carpenter ants also cause structural damage to timber.
SIGNS OF INFESTATION
- Visible ant trails leading to food sources or waste areas, small soil or sand piles near foundations or paving,
- winged ants (alates) indoors is a sign of a mature, expanding colony,
- sawdust-like material near wooden furniture, possible carpenter ant activity,
- sightings in kitchens, pantries, or near any food source
PREVENTION TIPS
- Store all food, including pet food, in sealed containers,
- eliminate standing water and fix leaking pipes, seal cracks in walls,
- floors, and around pipe entry points,
- keep waste bins sealed and away from entry points and keep vegetation away from the building
