Book lice
Booklice are tiny, soft-bodied insects that thrive in humid indoor spaces. They don’t bite or spread disease but multiply quickly in damp conditions. Qatar’s poorly ventilated spaces make them a common hidden problem in homes and offices.
SIGNS OF INFESTATION
- Tiny pale insects on books, shelves, or stored food packaging,
- insects around damp walls, window frames, or kitchen cupboards,
- musty smell in storage areas often accompanied by surface mold
PREVENTION TIPS
- Control indoor humidity using a dehumidifier in damp rooms.
- Ventilate storage areas, cupboards, and bookshelves regularly, store books and documents in sealed,
- dry containers, fix any leaks, condensation, or damp walls immediately,
- Keep kitchen cupboards clean and dry at all times.
